Why Foreign Missions?

Foreign missions typically involve a lot of time, money, and stress. Why bother? I really believe the reply is very simple.
First of all of most, some reasons behind global missions which are not sufficient:

Individuals are going to hell.
Christianity will be the only true way of thinking.
God can't get individuals to heaven without my help.

The reality is, all of the human sympathy and compassion an individual may muster up for eternally damned souls doesn't work. Once the basis for missions is feeling detrimental to other folks, its depending on ourselves. Its humanistic. If we work from that basis, it isn't tough to feel angry at God for allowing visitors to go to hell.

The actual grounds for missions is straightforward. Jesus told us to make it happen. It is obedience, pure and straightforward. Obviously compassion for your lost along with a desire to see God glorified strengthen our serve. However when email address details are not forth coming, the surer foundation is simple obedience. As I'll explain partly II, that's awesome.

Put like that, the decision to missions may sound mundane or negative. Yet for me, the opposite is true. Its freeing.

For this example you're going on the field and absolutely nothing happens. You haven't any new converts no fast progress inside the language. The showers are cold and the nationals mostly just irritate you. In fact, you haven't any idea what you'll place in your newsletter that month and also hardwearing . supporters supportive. Are you currently a bad missionary?

Otherwise you are receiving phenomenal success. Its obvious to everyone that you're a missionary guru. The only real problem you are facing is how you can maintain your pride in check.

In the two caser, when the call to missions is a call to become compassionate or successful, your value like a missionary fluctuates with the success of one's mission. If the call to missions can be a call to simple obedience, however, the stress is off. Should you succeed, God provides the glory. If you fail outwardly, you haven't any regrets.

My assurance of God's smile originates from knowing that through his power, I'm doing what he admits that. The rest is within his hands. Now that's awesome!

One more reason this theology of missions strikes me as Biblical, is it leads to a God centered way of missions.

Simple obedience contains the concept of as being a follower. We all know from the shepherd and sheep analogy that Jesus used, that is on the right track.

As being a follower has some important ramifications. Think about any large and successful organization, may it be mega churches, corporations, or countries. Who has got the glory? That is the main attraction? Is it the a large number of lay members, employees, or citizens? Generally, the best choice may be the one because of the credit. And this is what we want in our mission work. We wish our Leader to get the credit. So it is essential that God is our leader.

It may sound ludicrous that people might see ourselves as the real leader and God your follower. I know we wouldn't claim that, but consider this scenario. You decide to reach out to the indegent people in your city. So you meet up together with your team members and plan a method. You improve the necessary funds and research before you buy on poverty alleviation. Around the morning of the first real outreach you own a hurried prayer time prior to getting lets start on the actual work. Who was simply the real leader here?

Granted, solutions in which we've ideas and we bring these suggestions to our Leader to see whether he approves. My point is certainly not we ought to 't be creative or lack initiative. Followers needs to have both. My point is always that missions must stay solidly anchored for the truth that God is the one that is accomplishing his work. If we feel that missions is usually by what we are doing, it's once again time to test set for another reality briefing.

I'm convicted when i write this. The goal of this blog is always to expand the dominion of God by connecting and encouraging people who hear the phone call to missions. Basically think for one moment will be able to through my very own cleverness become successful in expanding the Kingdom, I am dead wrong. It is just if God chooses for doing things to help his plans. I sincerely hope he does.
